More wireless transmissions are being saved for 5G cell innovation, as the Canadian government says it will sell a repurposed remote range band.
The Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development said the 3,800 megahertz band is key for 5G, which is the reason it's being repurposed from its past use with satellite and remote broadband services.
An closeout for the band is booked to happen in 2023.
An sell off for another key range band, 3,500 megahertz, is planned to occur June 15.
Shaw Communications Inc. quit that closeout recently, in front of Rogers Communications Inc's. plan to secure the company.
Remaining bidders for that range incorporate Rogers, Bell, Telus, Sasktel and TekSavvy.
